The rewards of a demanding job

by Stefanie Fontanez on May 14, 2009

nurseBeing a home health aide can be a demanding job. The hours are long and the workload is high. As an aide you are required to deal with clients facing anything from dementia to a terminal illness. This is not a job for the faint of heart, nor is it a job without extreme reward. As those in the industry can tell you, the emotional satisfaction of the job far outweighs any difficulties you might face.

Nowhere is that more evident than in this Washington Post slideshow that centers on Clarice “Classie” Morant, a 104-year-old woman, who, along with a home health aide, has taken care of her 92-year-old sister Rozzie for the last 20 years. It is a touching view of what day-to-day life is like for both aides and the families they treat. Make sure to have your volume on – you’ll want to hear both the aide and Classie explain why they do what they do.
