Happy New Year
Our Campaign to Hire America success leads the pack
Nothing says New Year’s like Dick Clark, Times Square, annoying noisemakers… and lists.
Everyone from VH1 to your mom’s life coach feels compelled to count down lists at the end of every December as a way to bid the old year farewell. For everyone at SnagAJob.com, it’s a bittersweet ritual—because our 2008 rocked.
Here are five reasons why 2008 was such a great year for us and for the job seekers and employers we serve.
5. Snagger ranks continue to swell.
It’s getting quite cozy at SnagAJob.com’s corporate headquarters. Actually, someone may have to call the fire marshal soon. That’s because the Snagger population continues to thrive and grow; as of press time, SnagAJob.com boasts more than 130 Snaggers. That’s a 30 percent increase over last year.
4. Community outreach hits new heights.
While Snaggers were busy connecting America’s 80 million hourly workers with sweet new jobs, they were also hooking up Greater Richmond’s charitable organizations with a little TLC. From cheering at Special Olympics events to serving as mentors for children who lost their parents at Comfort Zone Camp retreats, Snaggers did countless good deeds this year.
3. CEO Shawn Boyer is named King of Small Biz.
OK, that’s not the official title. But back in April, dozens of Snaggers huddled around the TV in our library and watched as Shawn Boyer was named Small Business Person of the Year by the United States Small Business Administration. Of course, with all the cheering, you could barely hear a thing. The next day, Shawn was introduced by President George W. Bush at a White House press conference. We’re guessing this makes Shawn’s personal top-five list, too.
2. SnagAJob.com joins the “Best Company to Work For” crowd.
Actually, “crowd” is the wrong word. That’s because the Great Place to Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management rank only the top 25 Best Small and Medium Companies to Work for in America. This year SnagAJob.com finished No. 3 on the Best Small Companies list. (What’s one way we can make 2009 better than 2008? You can guess what we have in mind.)
1. We crush our Campaign to Hire America goal.
This time last year, we made a bold promise to the nation’s hourly workforce: we were going to hook up 400,000 job seekers with great new gigs. Guess what? We toppled that goal… in October. And while we’re still counting the final numbers, rest assured that it’s a pretty big tally. Now we’re busy coming up with a new Campaign to Hire America goal for 2009.
Happy New Year from SnagAJob.com! And remember: if your resolution is to find a job, we can help.
