Don’t make these job interview mistakes! female-desk

Interviews are tough. You have to pick the right outfit, make sure you have extra copies of your application or resume on hand and then try not to say anything too crazy to your interviewer.

That last one can be the toughest of all. You may think you’re just making conversation – but you might just be talking yourself out of a job.

There is a new article on SnagAJob.com that gives you a look at some of the topics you should shy away from – like the appearance of the interviewer’s children or dirty jokes. You might be surprised at what you find!

Check out our newest article titled 10 things that you should never say during a job interview – ever! While you’re there, check out other job interview tips to help you get ready for your big day.

If you don’t have a job interview lined up just yet, browse local job listings in your area to find the right job for you.

Another great resource for job interview do’s and don’ts is the Tips/Advice tab of Microsoft’s Office Live Students Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/officelivestudent?v=app_7146470109&viewas=32400819#/officelivestudent?v=app_7146470109&viewas=32400819). Check under the column titled “Interviewing” for numerous articles on how to prepare for and perform during a job interview. There are also video tutorials that feature recruiting professionals giving advice on job applications under the Video tab (http://www.facebook.com/officelivestudent?v=app_2392950137&viewas=32400819).

I’m glad you posted this!! With today’s market, the interview is becoming increasingly important, as well as competitive.

I especially think that researching a company prior to the interview is absolutely vital for getting the job; if you don’t know the company and have at least 3 questions to ask them after the interview, there’s almost no chance you’ll ever hear back from them.
