SnagAJob.com takes second in the Richmond Corporate Games
by Ashley Talley

snagajob-team-photoThis past weekend seventeen Snaggers, including myself, had the honor of representing SnagAJob.com in the 24th Richmond Corporate Games event. This annual event is one of the most anticipated events for the Innsbrook community. It’s a time when titles are defended, records are made, and in some cases hearts are broken. But the Richmond Corporate Games’ primary purpose is to raise money for Special Olympics Virginia and to foster team building for companies and their employees. Each year the games begin on a Friday night with a Canoe Race across one of the many lakes in Innsbrook. It ends the next day with everyone’s favorite event, tug-of-war.

This was our first year competing in the “A” league and we are proud to announce that SnagAJob.com placed 2nd overall. We were also awarded the sportsmanship award, which is voted on by the teams and the referees. Some of the highlights of the afternoon include a first place finish in the canoe race as well as the jump rope jive competition. Our seventy-one consecutive jumps set the bar as a new Corporate Games record in that event. We also took second place in the 600-yard-relay and in the newest event to the Corporate Games, summer skiing. Our biggest honor came as we sponsored the lighting of the Olympic torch, provided by Special Olympics Virginia. Our very own Kevin Mullaney escorted a few of the special athletes up to the podium to ignite the symbolic flame, a moment that won’t soon be forgotten.

All in all, the afternoon was filled with raging competitive spirit, laughter and fun, and support from fellow co-workers and other members of the Innsbrook community. We would like to congratulate Capital One on their victory in the “A” league and VACO Richmond on their victory in the “B” league. To all of the other competitors – you did a great job. And don’t worry, you will see SnagAJob.com again in 2010 – you can’t miss the orange.
