Now that it’s officially fall and there’s an increase in the number of yellow school buses on the road, you may be thinking about going back to school. But if you’ve got a family, a job or other commitments that take up a lot of your time, you might think that getting your education is out of the question. Well, it’s not.

An online degree is perfect if you want to make more money at work or just learn about a subject that interests you, because you can attend class anywhere and at any time. Haven’t convinced you yet? Here’s a list of all the reasons why an online education rocks:

• Roll in the dough. More education means more experience in your career field—and that could mean a bigger paycheck in your pocket. Many employers also offer tuition reimbursement to full-time employees, so you could get your degree on your boss’ expense (score!).

• Flexible scheduling. As long as you’ve got an Internet connection, you can attend class in the wee hours of the morning or while your TiVo records “Late Night with Carson Daly.” We know you wouldn’t dare miss an episode.

• Make your voice heard. You don’t need to be shy in an online class. Discussions usually happen in a chat room setting, so you don’t feel like a dork raising your hand and answering questions—just think of it as typing an instant message to your B.F.F.

• Become a tech head. Because you’ll be doing all of your coursework online, you’re bound to learn something you didn’t already know about the mysterious world of the Internet. You can also brag to your coworkers about how computer-savvy you are.

• No more office hours. You don’t have to wait around for a two-hour window to open up once a week to talk to your professor. With an online education, you can communicate with your instructor through email, an online chat or discussion room.

• Save precious time. And gas! You won’t have to drive to campus or struggle to find a parking spot if you get an online education—just walk over to your computer and press the power button.
